Dr. Vaughn Paul Metz

Dr. Vaughn Paul Metz, 76, of Connersville, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born January 22, 1947 to Bernard and Lois Dettman Metz in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was a 1965 graduate of Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana. He also attended Butler University and Indiana University School of Dentistry. Following graduation, he worked as a dentist at Muskatatuck State Hospital prior to coming to Connersville to start his own practice. Once moved to Connersville, Vaughn opened his own dentistry practice when he served the community for 25 years until he retired in 2005. He was beloved and will be missed by many former patients. On October 5, 1974, he married Marjorie Dean Schultze in North Vernon, Indiana. In his leisure, he enjoyed softball, golf, and gardening. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. In his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing and spending the summers in his cottage in Algoma Mills, Canada. Survivors include his daughter, Kristan Metz (John Eppstein) of Cincinnati, his son, Derek (Kimberly) Metz of Brooklyn, NY, and his partner Ingrid Baney of Connersville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 2013 and his sister Linda Metz. Memorial contributions may be made to Fayette County Foundation or to The American Cancer Society in Vaughn's Honor.
