Vernon Brewer, 88 of Connersville, died Monday morning, January 13, 2014, at his residence.
A native of Owsley County, Kentucky, Vernon was born November 3, 1925 to John and Mattie Ross Brewer. He came to Connersville in 1949 to find work and was employed for 29 years at the former National Metal Products until his retirement in 1984. On February 2, 1952, Vernon was married to the former C. Odette Pieri who died August 18, 2011. Vernon enjoyed his time with his family as well as growing vegetable and flower gardens.
Vernon is survived by three children: Steven Brewer of Lynchburg, Virginia, Mary Brochin and her husband, Charles, John Brewer, all of Connersville; four grandchildren and their spouses: Brandon Smith and Kristin of Lafayette, Kaleb Brewer of Connersville, Michelle Brochin LaRue and Troy of Dublin, Ohio, Tracey Brochin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; five great-grandchildren: Zach, Joe and Katie LaRue, Noah and Heidi Smith; several nephews, nieces and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife of over 59 years, Vernon was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Brochin and six siblngs: Estill Brewer, John Ben McGeorge, Peggy Cox, Jackie Heckert, Christine Woodward and Jean Black.
Private graveside services will be conducted at Dale Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Pastor Leonard Cranfill of the Growing Branches for Christ Church, officiating. There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the FRHS Foundation for Hospice Care. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
