Walter K. "Bootie" James Jr.

Walter K. (Bootie) James, 74, of Connersville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Reid Health of Richmond. Walter was born June 3, 1945 in Connersville to Walter K. James Sr. and June D. Kendall James. Walter grew up in Shirley, Indiana until moving to Connersville when he was 14 years old. He attended and graduated from Connersville High School and began his career at Roots Blower in Connersville. “Bootie” worked as a machinists and was promoted to the maintenance department until retiring in 2013. Walter was a member of the Hilltop Tabernacle Church and was an avid card player, always enjoying a good game of euchre. You could always find “Bootie” with a good cup of coffee talking with his HAM Radio friends, going by the call letters KB9LUX, and also on his CB radio by the call name “Snake”. Walter also enjoyed a good western movie after a delicious breakfast at Parkview Restaurant. “Bootie” is survived by his children: Todd Kenneth James of Taylorsville, Indiana, Amy Henderson and Joe of Flat Rock, Indiana, Jessica James of Indianapolis; Brothers: Danny James and Mary of Washington, Indiana, Patrick James Sr. of Connersville; sisters: Carolyn Davisson and Donald of Kentucky, Annabelle Emswiller of Middleton, Indiana; Grandchildren: Jaxson Luke Jordan, Anna-Grace and Lilly Shields, Dayne, Joey, and Zach Henderson, Natalie Starnes; He was expecting his first great-grandson, Wilder Croucher in November; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his infant son: Walter Kenneth James III; brother: Ed “Tex” James Sr.; sisters: Marilyn Quantz and Jenell James. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
