William “Bill” D. Grant, 77, died Monday, June 6, 2022 at his residence.
Bill was born to Melville and Mary Elizabeth Bentley Grant on May 14, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from High School in 1964 prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Bill rose through the ranks, earning several medals including Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and a Letter of Commendation prior to his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1970. He continued to proudly serve his country through the Army National Guard until 1988. After returning home, Bill was employed as a truck driver, most recently driving a cement mixer. In Bill’s early years he was considered an adrenaline junkie, with a passion for sky diving; until he met the love of his life. He married the former Lisa Jones on August 19, 2000 at the River of Life Worship Center, where they first met, and have been members ever since. Bill was a mechanic and tinkerer; he enjoyed working with his hands taking things apart just to put them back together again. He was an Elder in his church and was actively involved with the Praise Team and Choir. Bill adored taking care of his grandchildren who affectionately called him Pop Pop. Bill will be remembered as a great man who loved the Lord and his family.
In addition to his wife of Twenty-one years, Bill is survived by his children and their significant others: Joseph and Stacey Wyatt, Jordan and Aubury Wyatt, Adam and Brittany Wyatt, Sarah and Jason Golub; sister: Beverly Hayden; grandchildren: Rylan, Alana, Alyssa, Landon, Kylie, Airyanna, Alizabeth; several nieces and nephews including: Crayman Maples; church family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers: Hartwell “Ray” Cansler and Charles “Chuck” Rogers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Senior Pastor Ed Sanders officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12:00p.m., until the time of service. Burial will follow at College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner, Indiana, with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Ministries at River of Life in Bill’s honor.
