William F. “Bill” Klopp, 70, of Connersville, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015. While he was under medical care, his death was unexpected.
Bill was born June 8, 1945 in Connersville to Robert and Mary Ann Reeder Klopp. He grew up in Connersville and attended Connersville area schools. In his youth, Bill delivered the Connersville News Examiner for many years to numerous households and played school athletics, including football. On June 30, 1996, he retired from Visteon after thirty-two years of employment. While working at Visteon, Bill also owned and operated the Fishing Shack in east Connersville. After his retirement from Visteon, he began working for Hartzell Fire and Flood Restoration where he was employed for seventeen years, until his ill health no longer permitted him to work. Bill married the former Opal McFarland in 1965, in Connersville. They were happily married for fifty years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids. Bill traveled the whole continental United States, aside from Washington state.
In addition to his wife, Opal, Bill is survived by his children: Rhonda Bennington and her husband, Roger; Terry Warner; James Warner and his fiancé, Mary, all of Connersville; Ron Warner and his fiancé, Stephanie of Elkhart; Randy Klopp of Rushville; his siblings: Carol Fox of Connersville; Linda L. Turner and her husband, Winfred of Mooresville; Gary Klopp and his wife, Katie of Ft. Wayne; George Klopp and his wife, Doris of Charlotte, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Robert and David Klopp.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
