Wiona Kay Heck

Wiona Kay Heck 84, of Connersville passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She was born in Rushville, Indiana on May 15, 1937 to Earl and Mary Cross. Wiona graduated from Rushville High School and was a member of The Raleigh Christian Church and the Connersville Senior Center. Wiona was blessed with a large and loving family. She was married to Melvin Gideon of Spiceland for seventeen years. They had six children. In 1981 she married Lee Heck of Connersville and shared thirty-three years together until his passing in 2014. Wiona loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed many hobbies which included dancing, flower gardening, crafts, sewing and painting. She took great pleasure in her many collections. Wiona never met a stranger and company was always welcome. She will be dearly missed by her children, loved ones and friends. Wiona is survived by her children: Melvin Gideon (Melodi) Lakeland, Florida, Mark Gideon (Lindy)Spiceland, Bess Heller (Tim) Rushville, Nan Case (Ron Townsend) Bargersville, Indiana, Katherine King (Cory) and Matt Gideon all of Connersville; step-children: Melany Heck, Rachel Wieman, Andrew Heck, Jane Herzog; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, sister: Theda Carlson Florida; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Wiona is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter: Sadie Elizabeth Gideon, a brother: Earl Cross. A funeral service will be conducted at 2p.m., Monday, March 7, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12p.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Dale cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association in Wiona's honor.
